SharePoint 2010 issues with calendars

I am having the following issue in SharePoint 2010: when I set the chrome state of a calendar to “minimized” (under Edit Web Part > Appearance), the calendar still gets displayed on the page.

This is an issue I already reported with the beta version. Recently, I also posted my question on the MSDN forum, but got no answer.

The ability to minimize Web Parts is key when building dynamic interfaces. Currently this is a road block for some of my customizations, like the Easy Tabs or expand/collapse buttons.

It is not the only issue I am seeing with calendars, I also experienced some weird behaviors when resizing the browser window.

So, is it just me? I’d love to hear your feedback on this!

  1. hi .. is there a way i can make my calendar always expanded? as it have many items now and i can’t see all except when click expand all .. but can it be expand all; the dafault?

  2. I am using the Easy Tabs for my Inbox, Calendar and Tasks web parts. For Calendar and Tasks, I don’t get any options under the Title – New, Delete, View. Inbox works fine, and if I edit the page, then all the web parts show all their options. Just in regular view don’t have full functionality.

  3. Dear Christophe, I am facing totally the same problem. Could you tell me how do you deal with this problem at the end? I am doing the expand/collapse button for the calendar web part too, it cannot be shown as minimized state initially. Thanks a lot. I love your posts for sharepoint very much.

    • Sorry, I have no miracle solution. Just waiting for Microsoft to fix the calendar…

I have seen another blog where the Microsoft calendar is replaced with the free FullCalendar.

      • Thank you for your reply, but I am not allowed to install other web part to the system because of the security policy. However, is there any way we can make a button which will control the whole calendar web part hidden or not, using the hidden property? If you know how to do it, please let me know. Thanks a lot.
